The LWVLA Education Committee monitors education issues at national, state, and local levels. It monitors bills at the state legislature and organizes responses to legislative sessions. It monitors the activities of the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) and encourages local chapters to attend their local school board meetings. In the past, the Education Committee has conducted a study of charter schools in Louisiana, assisted in the organization of the 2019 LWVLA State Convention on the topic of early childhood education, and also worked with teachers to implement Harvard Case Method Project resources in high school civics education.
