| 1. Should local taxing bodies have input on the ITEP program? Why or why not?
| Absolutely. ITEP is a program that offers tax exemption from LOCAL taxes. Local bodies should have a say. | | 2. How should law-enforcement agencies be held accountable to the city and its residents?
| They should not be able to hide behind qualified immunity. Additionally, an independent committee of community stakeholders should have authority to investigate and recommend corrective action for major offenses. | | 3. How do you plan to address the discrepancies of public investment around the city, including economic investment, access to primary health care in north Baton Rouge, and issues of blight?
| I plan to work with other small business owners in my district to evaluate needs specific to our area, develop an area specific plan, leverage untapped resources, and advocate for specific resource to achieve the plan we develop in cooperation with the neighborhoods in the area. The plan will also address the food and healthcare deserts in the area. | | 4. How will you address parish-wide flooding?
| Many residents in the district are concerned about drainage issues. It is also a major concern of business leaders. I will work collaboratively with all vested stakeholders to address flooding in the district, as well as across the parish - business leaders, residents, and local and state public works departments. | | 5. What steps would you take to ensure adequate oversight of agencies with dedicated funding to prevent overspending of taxpayer dollars by those agencies?
| I would review the budgets of each agency as well as the relevant policies that inform how the funds must be allocated to determine where opportunities for cuts exists and where there are needs to increase spending based on any unaddressed policy mandates. |
