1. Should local taxing bodies have input on the ITEP program? Why or why not?
I believe EBR should have a predictable, consistent and transparent process for ITEP applications to be reviewed. If the local input creates inefficiencies that will hinder the pro-business climate we are trying to develop, then I see no reason to support something that will do more harm then good.
2. How should law-enforcement agencies be held accountable to the city and its residents?
Absolutely, I also believe our city police officers are severely underfunded, and lacking the leadership that they so desperately need. Our city deserves world class leadership in every government department, and that belief applies especially to our police force
3. How do you plan to address the discrepancies of public investment around the city, including economic investment, access to primary health care in north Baton Rouge, and urban blight?
The series of issues that north Baton Rouge is facing stem from a lack of effort and an inability to effectively communicate from within our current city-government. There are federal dollars that we can use to help with investment and development in the region, but our current leaders are ineffective in accessing and allocating those funds. We can create real a opportunity for economic development in our underserved communities, but we will the need effort and visionary thinking of new leadership to create those opportunities.
4. How will you address parish-wide flooding?
Our drainage infrastructure needs an overhaul, but don't let that be an excuse for why our current system fails during heavy rainfall. Our city's inability to perform drainage maintenance at a scale that would prevent flooding is a great example of how our current city-parish government fails time and time again to prioritize the requests of its citizens, and instead dedicates parish resources to unnecessary and politically beneficial projects.
