Questions specific to the position

1. Should local taxing bodies have input on the ITEP program? Why or why not? Yes, as a taxing body we should be able to have input on programs we offer to local businesses. This would allow us to look over incentives offered by these corporations and how the program would negatively or positively affect our tax base.
2. How should law-enforcement agencies be held accountable to the city and its residents? All stakeholders who represent the city whether elected, appointed, or employee of the city are to be held accountable as a leader in the city. Part of my accountability as an elected official is making sure that all agencies conduct business in a manner that helps protect the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens.
3. How do you plan to address the discrepancies of public investment around the city, including economic investment, access to primary health care in north Baton Rouge, and issues of blight? As a metro council member I want to ensure that public services are available to North Baton Rouge and all areas of the city. Restructuring and restoring blighted properties will be a priority in my administration. Also, redevelop and enhance areas of Baton Rouge that can bring in new businesses and services to our city and parish.
4. How will you address parish-wide flooding? Continue to work with agencies we are currently working with for an overall Master Drainage Plan and to execute in a timely manner projects that will alleviate minor and major flooding this includes side road and off road local drainage as well as our channels and bayous.
5. What steps would you take to ensure adequate oversight of agencies with dedicated funding to prevent overspending of taxpayer dollars by those agencies? Fiscal responsibility is a must in public service. The public has the right to know how agencies plan to spend their tax dollars and trust that tax dollars will be spent on said projects without added waste. Therefore, I would be sure to vote on a budget that is fiscally responsible and review monthly financial statements as well as updates prior to allocating funding for projects.
