| 1. Do you feel like the wages for municipal employees, such as the NOFD and EMS are adequate, and if not, how do you propose raising them?
| I support our citizens having enhanced economic opportunities. I do plan to study the city's wage system to compare it to cost of living figures, inflation, and other variables to determine what moves can be made to improve income opportunities. | | 2. Will you support an ordinance to establish an independent external evaluation of the Ethics Review Board as called for in the Charter? Please explain your answer.
| Yes. However, it is important to note cost considerations are relevant in this pursuit. We want a fully functioning Ethics Board and I will work to enforce the existing ordinances rules and regulations relative to the Ethics Board. | | 3. In your role as the regulatory body for Entergy, what factors would you consider to increase rates?
| There are very few circumstances in which I would increase rates at this very challenging time in our local and national affairs. However, I am certainly open to considering factors such as enhanced and more delivery of services, provision for low income and elderly residents, and other investments by Entergy. However and I repeat, it is not the appropriate time to raise rates as the nation and our city reel from the pandemic. | | 4. Where is the best site for a new City Hall and why?
| Its present location. I am not convinced by the information that I have seen that there is a need for a new City Hall. However, any new site should have plenty of available land with enough space to bring all the city departments that are scattered throughout the city together and have ample parking. For example, there are sites in Eastern New Orleans which include hundreds of acres within one mile of Interstate transportation and are located near rail lines which one day could support commuter transportation to City Hall. It could help to revive an underutilized area of the city and would prevent the disruption of a historic neighborhood. |
