Questions specific to the position

1. Do you feel like the wages for municipal employees, such as the NOFD and EMS are adequate, and if not, how do you propose raising them? WE need to attract, retain and invest in OUR valuable public safety departments: NOPD, NOFD and EMS. We need to offer nationally competitive salaries, benefits and education. WE should use Covid-19 funds to invest in a national recruitment campaign, modernize equipment and facilities, offer bonuses, relocation reimbursement, meaningful education and continuing training WE also need to pay the Firefighters the City owed judgment for back wages. That lawsuit was won many years ago. The City needs to honor this judgment. The City of New Orleans must honor the law and pay this judgment. New Orleans elected officials are NOT above the law.
2. Will you support an ordinance to establish an independent external evaluation of the Ethics Review Board as called for in the Charter? Please explain your answer. Yes. Absolutely YES! This City Administration and past Administrations are and have been for years: far too closed and insulated from the constituents who elected them. Past and present Administrations have been and still are plagued with double dealing, 'insider trading', cronyism, nepotism, criminal activity, bribery, theft and malfeasance. They should be exposed and charged and put in prison.
3. In your role as the regulatory body for Entergy, what factors would you consider to increase rates? I suggest WE deregulate all utilities. One energy provider cannot offer US enough choices for OUR growing needs as especially demonstrated during the spring cold snap, when WE in Lakeview had arbitrary power shutdowns. WE need more electric, natural gas, water, trash, internet, sewer and other technology providers. Competition will reduce costs and increase accountability and give the people, US, more options. This is the 21st Century. WE need 21st Century solutions to OUR 21st Century
4. Where is the best site for a new City Hall and why? City Hall should become a tenant in a nice building in the CBD or renovate the current City Hall. All past administrations have neglected the buildings WE paid for and gave them. City Hall is a disgrace, literally and figuratively.
