2023 Louisiana Statewide Election Dates

October 14 Gubernatorial Primary

  • September 13—Deadline to register by mail or in person at the Registrar of Voters.

  • September 23—Deadline to register online or at the GeauxVote app.

  • September 30—Early Voting begins. Polls open 8:30 AM-6:00 PM. Polls NOT open Oct 1.

  • October 7—Early Voting ends.

  • October 14—ELECTION DAY

  • NOTE: Louisiana’s “jungle primary” is not a closed party primary. Everyone of any party or no party (“independent voters”) may vote. It is also not just for governor—many statewide and local offices, along with the entire state legislature are on the ballot.


November 18 General Election

  • October 18—Deadline to register by mail or in-person at the Registrar of Voters.

  • October 28—Deadline to register online or at the GeauxVote app.

  • November 3–Early Voting begins. Polls open 8:30 AM-6:00 PM. Polls NOT open Nov 5 or Nov 10.

  • November 11—Early voting ends.

  • November 18—ELECTION DAY

  • Note: 17-year-olds who turn 18 between the primary and the general election may vote in the general election. Register to vote, so that the Registrar of Voters will send you a very special birthday present—your VOTER REGISTRATION CARD!
